The Semex International Dairy Conference is returning in January 2023. That's when we will announce the winner of the Healthy Herd Competition. The rescheduling gives you more time to enter the competition – we're now welcoming entries up to 31st December 2020.
Semex, with the support of British Dairying Magazine, are on the look-out for the UK's healthiest herd. Through the Healthy Herd Competition, we want to recognise and reward dairy farmers who put health at the top of their agenda. A healthy farm business must start with a healthy herd with cows that last longer, are easier to manage and which require fewer drugs to treat them.
As we continually strive to meet the concerns and demands of the consumers who want to know where their food comes from, we should be proud of the care we take of our animals and not be afraid to tell our stories and share our high standards.
Open to every dairy farmer in the UK – regardless of size, system or breed – we welcome nominations from vets, sales teams, consultants and farmers themselves.
The chance to win £1000 worth of semen
Judging will take place in late 2022 with three finalists being visited on farm in the Autumn. Each of the three will receive a couple's invitation to the Semex International Dairy Conference in January 2023. The winner, who will receive a voucher for £1,000 of Semex semen, will be revealed during the Conference's spectacular Burns Night event. And the other finalists won't go away empty-handed either; each will receive a semen voucher valued at £250.
