EastGen has established this award to recognize a leader/mentor of agricultural youth and to celebrate the legacy of the late Dr. Tim Henshaw. A skilled veterinarian, educator, and communicator, Dr. Tim was highly respected for his integrity and widely known in the agricultural industry and beyond as a leader, mentor and someone who inspired youth to challenge themselves. In addition, he was highly supportive of people throughout his community and beyond and recognized for his giving of self and generosity of spirit.
Created in addition to the youth show participant awards established by EastGen in 2023, the purpose of the annual ππ¦π¦π₯πªπ―π¨ π΅π©π¦ ππΆπ®π’π― ππ±πªπ³πªπ΅ π"π¦π’π₯π¦π³π'π©πªπ± ππΈπ’π³π₯ is to recognize those who emulate the qualities of Dr. Tim. The winner will receive a cash award provided by EastGen and a keepsake memento. The 2023 recipient was John Drummond (a.k.a. Mr. 4-H).
The 2024 ππ¦π¦π₯πªπ―π¨ π΅π©π¦ ππΆπ®π’π― ππ±πªπ³πªπ΅ π"π¦π’π₯π¦π³π'π©πªπ± ππΈπ’π³π₯ will be presented during the TD Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in early November.
