Three hundred seventy-seven head were exhibited at the World Dairy Expo's Central National Jersey Show in front of Official Judge Kelly Barbee of Concord, North Carolina.
Offspring of several current and former Semex sires were among the high-ranking individuals, with 35 Semex sired daughters placing in the top 10.
0200JE00131 Bridon Remake Comerica was named Premier Sire of the Show, with 10 daughters placing in the top 10 of their classes. This group included the 1st Jr 3 Yr Old and Reserve Intermediate Champion, Lookout Sweet Baby J, and the 2nd 5 Yr Old Cow, Stoney Point Comerica Sebrina, who stood second in class to the show's Grand Champion.
Canada's highest proven sire for type, 0200JE00427 Select-Scott Minister sired eight daughters that placed among the top 10 of their classes. These included 1st Sr 3 Yr Old and repeat Intermediate Champion, Pine Haven SSM Marmie, and the 1st Winter Heifer Calf and Junior Champion, Avonlea CF Baby Breeze-ET, giving Minister a stronger hold on his claim as a sire of champions.
Perennial sire of show winners across North America and around the world, 0200JE00303 SHF Centurion Sultan, sired six daughters that ranked in the top 10 positions in their classes. Robindale Sultan Juanita was selected as 2nd Summer Yearling Heifer, while Harmony Corners Fozzy came in 3rd in the Winter Yearling Heifer class.
Younger maternal brother to Comerica, 0200JE00136 Bridon Excitation, sired the first Fall Yearling Heifer, Erbacres Annabelle that was eventually tapped as Junior Champion of the Junior Show. Popular since becoming proven in 2008, 200JE00423 Lencrest Blackstone sired the 5th Spring Heifer Calf, Lookout Blackstone Treasure.
Former great Semex sire 0071JE00158 Glenholme Counciller sired three daughters in the top 10, including the 4th and 5th placed Aged Cows, Dalemcee-J Counciller Tauntra and Amlaird Counciller Emmy, respectively. His son 0200JE00129 Bridon Jamaica is the sire of RJF Jamaica Rockstar, the 2nd Jr 3 Yr Old and Honorable Mention Intermediate Champion.
Other former Semex sires with daughters placing in the top 10 entries of their classes at this year's World Dairy Expo Jersey Show include Rock Ella Perimiter, Willoa Laser, Curtsey Duncan Jude, Meadow Lawn J Imperial and Elliots Dorie Dean showing that Semex sires, past, present and future remain dominant in the show ring circles.
