The opening event of the 2011 American Jersey Cattle Association AGM recognized six young Jersey breeders with the 2011 Young Jersey Breeder Award. Among the recipients were two families who are heavily involved as users of Semex's product line and philosophy, and in one case as rising suppliers of genetics for our sire development program.
Receiving their award at Wisconsin Dells in their home state of Wisconsin, were Wayne and Lisa Artac of Golden Pride Dairy, Greenwood, Wisconsin. The citation for the Artac's included the fact that they regard one of their greatest accomplishments as being breeders of Golden Prides Jamaica Ginger Ex-90% by Semex's 0200JE00129 Bridon Jamaica. Ginger finished in the top 10 at World Dairy Expo, and what truly thrilled the Artac family was that Ginger was selected as the first Jersey ever to be in Semex's Walk of Fame at World Dairy Expo.
David and Beth Ertl of Edison, Ohio are aggressive young Jersey dairy producers developing a top Jersey herd. In the past year year the Ertl herd has become source of high ranking young sires for Semex's expanding Jersey program. Their high ranking herd for production and Jersey Performance Index is currently being radically expanded.
Congratulations to these families and all the winners of the American Jersey Cattle Association 2011 Young Jersey Breeder Awards.
