August 2011 Ayrshire proofs were exceptional for the Ayrshire breed. Three bulls in the top 20 LPI and other popular Semex sires remain strong.
August Releases:
0200AY00651 La Sapiniere Cacybo
A Repromax™ sire, Cacybo is the first of only a few Visserdale Herman sons to be tested. On his maternal side we find two well respected cows of the breed, Cacy B (B-Jurist) and Cacy (Cornelius). Both cows are star brood and production winners. Cacybo transmits high production and great components with desirable somatic cell score. When seeing a group of his daughters one is impressed by the great quality of udders these young cows have, especially for the volume of milk they produce. They are cows that show enough strength and width throughout and walk on correct feet and legs. One area we may need to protect when using Cacybo is the height of pins, which is rarely a problem in the breed. Cacybo is a very low inbreeding value at 2.73% and should work well on low pinned cows that could use more production. He will cross well with daughters of Hector, Poker, Normandin, Potter, Modem and Conn
0200AY00659 Kamouraska Mandarin
Mandarin is rare son of Visserdale Dilligent from the amazing Kamouraska Jerry Virvana who is currently ranked #46 on the Aug 2011 LPI Cow list. Two daughters and one granddaughter of Virvana figure among the top seven LPI cows in Canada (Aug 2011) - A true transmitting family!! Mandarin is a balanced bull from his high production and component % to his very attractive type breakdown. Mandarin daughters show the strength and body depth of Dilligent with the high quality udders and feet & legs and low Somatic Cell Score of Jerry. Breeders that are milking daughters of Mandarin are extremely pleased. In the herds where we find more than one daughter owners are amazed at how uniform and consistent they are. Mandarin daughters inspected are average statured, angular cows with nice open rib. His daughters display high quality udders with excellent median suspensory and superb udder texture. They walk on excellent fine boned legs, although a few daughters have a slight tendency to be curve. Mandarin will make an idea mating on daughters of Normandin, Calimero, Poker, Ristourn, Edmour and Modem
200AY00652 Nexus Dreamer
Dreamer, bred by the late Martin Duclos, has been no secret to Ayrshire Breeders in Canada in the past few months. Since April this Repromax™ sire has been the top selling Ayrshire bull in Quebec even without being official proven. Dreamer comes from a great well known family. His dam Pastel (Tradition) scored EX-92 at seven years old, has never had a lactation below 10,000 kgs and is still going. His second dam Maska VG-86 1*(T-Bruno) and then back to famous Lessard BBK Pasta EX-95 2*(BBBK). With the combination of this great family and Margot Calimero, Dreamer is expected to follow the same show pattern as his paternal and maternal line did.
But Dreamer is more than a show bull, and will fit in the breeding program of most modern breeders today. Dreamer daughters have good milk flow as he is at 800 kgs of milk. After inspecting a great number of daughters I get the same feeling I had after seeing the uniform group of daughters of Calimero from the first crop 8 years ago. Dreamers are better then average size and run uphill. They are angular dairy cows that walk on tremendous feet & legs. Dreamer daughters have udders to dream for with great attachments and perfect udder texture. They are strong-loined cows with perfect rumps. We can use Dreamer on almost all blood lines in the population today.
