Milk fever and subclinical hypocalcaemia can be a major headache around calving time. Farmers already have plenty to manage without cows going down or underperforming due to dropping calcium levels. When cows develop milk fever or subclinical hypocalcaemia, they essentially fall into a “calcium deficiency.”

The goal with proactive management and calcium supplementation at calving is to reduce or prevent this dip altogether. Supporting cows through this transition helps set them up for a stronger, more productive season ahead.

From a statistical standpoint, the highest risk for clinical milk fever occurs within 24–48 hours after calving, with about two-thirds of cases happening in this window. Subclinical hypocalcaemia usually starts around calving as well, but most cows will naturally recover within 48 hours.

DONE ONCE/DONE RIGHT:
One application, job done. With Cow Start Complete you administer two boluses as soon as possible after calving and that's it - no need to return 12 hours later for a follow-up when you've already got a full plate. Time is tight during calving, and this keeps things simple.

Delivers through the full critical period. Cow Start Complete delivers calcium over the period when cows are most at risk of metabolic issues. It is formulated to last through the entire high-risk phase, making it especially handy for getting cows through that first long night in the colostrum group.
