Semex Adds Bulls Offering Fertility & Healthy Cows In April 2013

Every day, and each proof round, Semex works hard to deliver our customers the very best newly released daughter proven sires and exciting young genomic sires available anywhere in the world. Semex Sires Receive Holstein Canada Awards

With each genetic evaluation Holstein Canada recognizes sires that reach elite standards in production, conformation and also genetic indexes through their Superior Production (SP), Superior Type (ST) and Class Extra (EXTRA) programs.

Superior Production The following Semex sires have been recognized in April 2013 as Superior Production sires having combined genetic indexes for Fat and Protein in the top 5% of the Canadian sire population. Sires must have a reliability of at least 85%.

Bowers Hired As Semex Embryo Sales Manager

Semex is pleased to announce that Melissa Bowers has accepted the role of Embryo Sales Manager effective immediately.

Melissa joined Semex in May 2012 as a Sales & Product Specialist. Within this role Melissa 
worked closely with the both the Embryo and Product Support Teams. This work included working with technical support and training on Semex’s sales tools, and most recently serving as Semex’s Interim Embryo Sales Manager.

Well-known in the dairy industry, Melissa joined Semex's partner, Centre d'insémination 
artificielle du Québec (CIAQ) in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, in September 2008 as an Agricultural Technician. During her time at CIAQ, she was been involved in a variety of projects including being responsible for Jersey product relations. Prior to joining CIAQ, Melissa worked with Cargill Ltd and Agribrands Purina. Additionally, Melissa is fully bilingual in English and French, and hails from the accomplished Lencrest Jersey Farm in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada.

Semex’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Larmer has recently reported 2012 to be a great success for Semex. “In the past three years we have witnessed growth in all three of our major focus areas: Revenue; Profit; and Return on Revenue,” says Larmer. “In 2012 we witnessed record revenues and achieved targets originally established for 2015. Our increasing diversity has proven to both strengthen our solutions offering to our customers, and decrease our reliance on specific markets and specific products. Additionally, we've supported growth in new areas and to new customers, all while enhancing existing relationships with our loyal customers.”

Semex Announces Board of Directors

The Semex Alliance pleased to welcome two new members who will serve on its Board of Directors:

  • Germain Lehoux, representing Centre d’insémination artificielle du Québec, CIAQ
  • Henry Gisler, representing Westgen
In 2013-2014 Norm McNaughton (EastGen), will serve as President & Chairman of the Board, assisted by Executive member Gary Bowers (CIAQ) and Ken Massie (Westgen) who will serve as Vice President. Other Board of Director members include: Normand Barriault (CIAQ); Robert Wright (EastGen); Warren MacIntosh (EastGen); Léonard Chabot (CIAQ); and Gerrit Wensink (EastGen).

Rondeau Joins Semex As Sales Manager

Semex is pleased to announce that Dany-Pierre Rondeau will be joining Semex effective Monday, March 11, 2013 in the role of Sales Manager.

Dany-Pierre will be reporting to Sam Mitra, Director, International Sales & Business Development, and will be working in the Middle East, Asia, Central & Eastern European regions.

“It is critical to have an expanded, client-focused team that can support current and future growth. This is increasingly important as we move forward in our goals of doubling business volume once again over the next few years in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia,” says Mitra. “As a part of this endeavor, I am very pleased to welcome Dany-Pierre to our team in Guelph.”

“Initially he will be responsible for our direct sales to farm clients in the Middle East,” says Mitra. “Over time he will work with our distribution structure in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia to help improve client focus and sales management.”

No stranger to the dairy industry, Dany-Pierre brings exceptional experience to this position. After completing his Farm Management degree at Macdonald College, McGill University, Dany-Pierre joined a competing A.I. company. He excelled in this role, with a proven track record of optimizing client performance, effectively evaluating progeny and gaining market share. Most recently, Dany-Pierre worked as a Business Development Manager with an embryo export organization, developing markets and servicing international clientele.

Semex is pleased to announce the recent opening of its new semen distribution facility. Located at its production centre north of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, this state-of-the art facility is the direct result of the increased demand for Semex’s product globally.
